WhatsApp opens event invitations to people without an account

WhatsApp is rolling out link-based RSVPs for guests without an account, alongside a new Events Home for invitations and responses.

WhatsApp is expanding Events so guests can view an invitation and RSVP without downloading the app. Meta announced the update on 5 November. Hosts can create an event, add a cover image and send an invitation link. [1]

A new Events Home brings created and invited events together under Settings. The update also adds custom reminders and a plus-one option. Meta says the changes will roll out over the following weeks, so availability may differ between accounts. [1]

TCE’s view

For creators organising small community meetups, removing the account requirement could make invitations easier to share. An RSVP still needs follow-through. Give guests a clear meeting point, keep capacity realistic and confirm practical details before the day. For a brand collaboration, agree who will manage invitations and guest questions.

This is an announced rollout, not a confirmed launch for every account. Meta has not reported attendance outcomes from these changes.
